Crysis is a game which requires both tactical thinking and good aim, it is a first person shooter that actually makes you think more than you would in some other shooters. In some shooters you would shoot at your opponent as soon as you saw them, with crysis this is not always the case. In this guide i will talk about:
The Basics of Powerstruggle
The Basics of Instant Action & Team Instant Action
The Basics of Powerstruggle
Ok, so to some people, powerstruggle seems like a complicated game mode that isn't worth learning, some people say this because they prefer simple game play like death matches/instant action matches (whatever you want to call them), and some do not like the learning curve of the game mode. If you have played Unreal Tournament, adapting to Powerstruggle shouldn't be to much of a problem, the concept is the same. In unreal tournament, you capture nodes, and the first team to have captured the nodes (i think its two), and hold them for about 10 seconds wins. The two teams battle each other, and hope that they will be the team that holds both nodes for ten seconds. Powerstruggle is similar, you capture certain points around the map, and the aim is to hold these points, though these points serve a different purpose to the nodes in unreal tournament, you can see how important they must be. So the different types of points you can capture in a Powerstruggle match are:
2. Warfactories/Naval Facilities/Aviation Facilities
3. Energy Sites
4. Prototype Facility
Bunkers allow you to spawn in them, and also purchase your weapons in them, bunkers are important to hold, as they help reduce the time it takes for you to either get to another place you want to capture after you have died, or to get straight back into the action. Bunkers take the shortest amount of time to capture out of all the buildings, though while capturing a bunker enemies could easily spawn there so taking a bunker on your own is not always the best idea.
War factories, Naval Facilities, and Aviation Facilities, all also allow you to buy the same weapons that are on offer in the bunkers, though in these building you can buy some 'heavier equipment'. The warfactory offers a range of tanks and trucks that can be purchased; naval facilities allow you to purchase boats which can only be used on water, and aviation facilities allow you to buy helicopters and vtols. These building do not allow you or your enemy to spawn in them, they for this reason may not be seen as important if you do not wish to use a tank, or boat, or vtol etc... however, by not capturing these buildings you run the risk of your enemy purchasing either a tank, or vtol etc.
Energy sites are very important, without them you cannot achieve the main objective of the game mode. In powerstruggle at the top of your screen you will notice that your team and your opponents team both have an energy meter, by capturing these energy sites, you are making it possible to collect energy, and the more energy sites one team has, the faster energy is collected.
Though without the prototype facility you can not collect any energy, the prototype facility is probably the most important capturable building in the game, its what allows you to achieve the main objective of the game mode. To collect energy you need to have captured the prototype facility and atleast one energy site, once the enemy captures the prototype facility your energy collecting is put on pause until you recapture it.
Now, you may be asking, how do i capture the buildings? well its simple.. make sure that you are firstly either inside the building unless it is a bunker where you can also capture it by standing outside, and also make sure that there are no enemies in or around the building, from a distance at which it can be captured. In the bottom left of your screen you will see a hexagon or something like that, which will be filling up in a clockwise direction, once that has filled up, you have captured that building, if a enemy does walk into the building capturing will be put on pause until either party is dead, at which point either you or your enemy will be capturing the building.
Ok so when you have reached 100% energy collection, you can buy a either a TAC Tank or a TAC Cannon, depending on the map, and you can use this to destroy the enemies hq, this is done by simply shooting straight at your enemies hq, from any distance.
Basics of Instant Action and Team Instant Action
Instant Action is probably the simplest game mode around, pretty much, jump into a map, and try kill anyone you see... there really isnt that much to know about it. Team Instant Action is pretty much the same thing except as you probably already know, you are part of a team, and are not meant to shoot at your team mates, though if you really wanna piss em off, then...
I dont rage quit!
